MEET YOUR FACILITATORS
Rachel Lindsey, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Math & Sciences,
Kapi‘olani Community College
Rachel Lindsey is an Anatomy & Physiology Instructor in the Math & Sciences Department at Kapi‘olani Community College. She has fifteen years of teaching experience, two of which have been predominantly online. Many students find A&P to be a very challenging course and her goal is to provide ample support to promote their success.
Nadine Wolff, M.S.

Nadine Wolff teaches Mathematics in the Math & Sciences Department at Kapiʻolani Community College. She has been teaching for twenty years and ventured into online education about eight years ago. Many students see math as a major hurdle and her goal is to help students overcome the anxiety and apprehension surrounding the subject with engaging activities, real-life applications, and a focus on growth mindset. When she is not teaching math she enjoys traveling, ocean time, and outdoor activities.
Scott Wylie, Ph.D.
Instructional Designer,
Chaminade University of Honolulu
Scott is the Instructional Designer with the Center for Teaching and Learning at Chaminade University of Honolulu. Scott works closely with faculty to design courses built around collaboration and engaging learning experiences, both in face-to-face and online environments. He also teaches education courses as an adjunct instructor in the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. Scott earned his Ph.D. in Social Studies Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He currently works remotely from Austin, TX, and shares an office with two pugs who make frequent appearances in his Zoom meetings.

Dan Hoffman, Ph.D.

Dan Hoffman is an Assistant Professor of Learning Design & Technology (LTEC) at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He is the principal investigator of the Advancing Culturally-Relevant Computing project and the president-elect of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology’s International Division. A former classroom teacher, his research focuses on the design of interactive experiences and their impact on learning and engagement.
Peter Leong, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Learning Design & Technology
University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa
Dr. Peter Leong is an Associate Professor with the Department of Learning Design & Technology at University of Hawaii-Manoa. He has extensive experience in the development and delivery of online courses and distance education. Dr. Leong was honored as one of Hawaii’s 2007 top high-technology leaders and was recognized with the University of Hawaii Board of Regents’ Medal for Teaching Excellence award in 2012. He was the President of the Pan-Pacific Distance Learning Association and the President of the International Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology as well as an executive board member of the International Council on Educational Media. Dr. Leong was previously a co-principal investigator on the RadGrad National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to evaluate new approaches to improving engagement, diversity, and retention in undergraduate computer science. He is currently a co-principal investigator on the Advancing Culturally-Relevant Computing NSF grant.
Jamie Sickel, Ph.D.

Jamie Sickel is an assistant professor and instructional designer at Kapi‘olani Community College and a field supervisor for the Elementary and Exceptional Students (ESEE) teacher education program at the University of Hawai‘i-Mānoa. She has a background in education, visual communications, and instructional design. Jamie has previously served as the blended learning advisor for the School of Education at Western Sydney University, a program coordinator and teacher educator for the College of Education at Ohio University, an East Asia and Pacific Institute NSF fellow, and a K-12 teacher in Ohio and Florida. She is passionate about digital design and fostering engaging online learning communities.
Youxin Zhang, Ph.D.

Youxin Zhang works as an instructional designer at Kapiʻolani Community College. She provides pedagogical and technical support to faculty and staff regarding instructional design, professional development, use of technology, etc.
